In the pharmaceutical industry, production personnel are required to complete large amounts of mandatory training, regulated by authorities, before being able to work independently on the production line. At production facilities across industries, the correct execution of a job is defined in a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The concrete training types currently used to educate new factory employees vary across production sites. In the case of Novo Nordisk, the partner for this project, these training methods include but are not limited to: Reading of the SOP, E-Learning, Peer-to-peer training (Master & Apprentice), VR (Virtual Reality) walkthrough and AR (Augmented Reality) instructions.
Evaluation of the learning objectives is required to ensure production workers (operators) can perform the job in accordance with the SOP and regulations of medical authorities. This project will focus on evaluating the outcomes of the current training process for these individuals at Novo Nordisk through statistical analysis of qualitative and quantitative data. Generalized methods and machine-learning-based tools will be developed aimed at improving future training and performance evaluation.
By enhancing the evaluation of the training and the training process for operators, this research can improve employee performance and reduce the number of errors in production. This study has the potential to not only improve employee satisfaction but also reduce medicine production costs, which is a crucial goal for any organization in the pharmaceutical field.
